We are a production studio and a gallery for exclusive art & design editions and objects and we also advice private and business clients in building and expanding their own unique art and design collections. Our aim is to make the art and design market a bit more sustainable, fairer and inclusive, so the majority of the art and design products we offer come from internationally active women and ethnic minorities who have been less represented in the art world until now.
Responsibility for society and environment is important to us, we do believe that the asthetic can be a means to foster a responsible relationship between humans and humans and nature. The studio therefore also realizes projects in cooperation with non-profit social or environmental organizations and academic institutions to support and to engender a different sort of business thinking and art and design approach. One of our main tasks is doing and promoting art & design business from a diverse, faire, inclusive & all in all sustainable perspective since this still is not what the art & design world is made of. So our main goal is to foster an equitable and sustainable future through art & design projects that are just, reasonable and transparent.
The Studio is owned by Dr. Julia-Constance Dissel who is a German philosopher, art and design expert and academic with strong background in aesthetics and eco-feminist, postcolonial theory and praxis.
Teresa Laura Novotny is working as a studio assistant since 2018. She holds a diploma in design from the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences, and she has a strong interest in topics such as gender & design, design methodology and design for sustainability. Teresa supports the studio with her designerly knowing in almost every project and project stage ranging from conceptual planning to realization.
Diverse artists and designers are constantly or just project based cooperating with us. We are a growing network of mutually supporting art & design specialists around the globe.
Over the last years Julia & the studio have realized projects in cooperation with: University of Art and Design Basel, the Deutsche Bildung, FFM, the Museum for Communication FFM, The Torrance Art Museum, Los Angeles, Kunstraum FFM; the Schader-Stiftung Darmstadt, European School of Design FFM, and promoted and engaged with works by artists & designers around the world such as Christine De La Garenne, Christiane Feser, Sandra Mann, Hella Jongerius, Superrr Lab, Gerhard Richter, Tobias Rehberger, Ed Ruscha, Rainer Dissel amongst many others.
Where to find us
The studio & gallery is located in the heart of the medieval city Seligenstadt, the birthplace of the famous artist Memling, about 30 minutes from Frankfurt/Main or 15 minutes from Aschaffenburg. Our own exhibition space is where unique art and design pieces invite for contemplation, but it is also the hub from which all our projects are coordinated and realized.
